The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) investigates the causes of diseases of the nervous system and develops strategies for prevention, treatment and care. Biorepository Technician (f/m)

within the Core Biorepository Facility. The Core Biorepository is part of the DZNE Core Facilities and provides expertise and technologies for storage of biological samples.

The Biorepository Technician will be supporting the biospecimen logistic workflow within the biorepository services at the DZNE. The biorepository services include the storage logistics, processing, retrieval and distribution of biological samples collected by clinical, epidemiological, and the basic research units within our organization.

We are looking for talented candidates from the Life Science areas to fulfill the technical and logistic aspects of registering, storage, and distribution of biomaterials in a central biobank facility.

Your Primary duties:

  • Reception, registering, storage, QC, and shipping of biospecimens into/from the biobank
  • Support the timely and accurate fulfillment of biospecimen orders
  • Must follow established Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Use the biobank databases (LIMS) to query and retrieve inventory of biospecimens
  • Biospecimens inventory reconciliation

Your Qualifications:

  • Experience with biospecimens collections and biobanking
  • Experience with LN2 cryostorage equipment and cryopreservation techniques
  • Experience with automated cryostorages would be an advantage
  • Experience with LIMS (especially Nautilus) and databases
  • Experience with biological samples, preferably of human origin
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Familiar with laboratory safety procedures including biosafety
