The Department for Internal Medicine III of the University Hospital of Ulm with a main focus on hematology, oncology, rheumatology and infectious disease has an opening for a
Postdoctoral position
The Department of Internal Medicine III has a strong focus on translational and clinical research in hematology and oncology. There are numerous interactions and collaboration with research groups around the world. Currently, research activities focus e.g. in the identification and characterization of genetic lesions and evaluation of their clinical significance in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) (for further information see also www.uni-ulm.de/onkologie/).
Recent advances in high-throughput sequencing technology have demonstrated that different cancer subtypes exhibit a far greater number of mutant tumor-relevant genes per individual tumor than initially expected, and many of the involved genes have not yet been known to be genetically altered in cancer. Thus, we are aiming to identify leukemia relevant genes by applying high-throughput ultra-deep amplicon sequencing approaches in order to identify leukemia-associated gene mutations of pathogenic, diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic relevance.
