Die "Köpfe" arbeiteten entweder zumindest einen Teil des Bewertungszeitraums an einem evolutionsbiologischen Institut, publizierten überwiegend in evolutionsbiologischen Journals oder arbeiteten vorrangig an eindeutig evolutionsbiologischen Projekten. Review-Artikel sowie deren Zitierungen wurden nicht berücksichtigt.
